STRATEGY
In 2015, I traveled to Jege, Nigeria with Children’s Relief International to launch their newest location with their Tessa Grace Nutrition Program. During my stay in Nigeria, I interviewed and documented the story of Tessa Grace Nigeria. I met with women and documented stories of the lives of moms and babies being changed. After the documentation, we created a communication plan and web platform to showcase the stories. We paired this with a social media strategy as well.
RESULTS
Through telling stories, like the one below, we were able to raise over $50,000 to continue the expansion and growth of Tessa Grace throughout South Asia, Nigeria, Mozambique, Haiti and now into Mexico.
STORY
TESSA GRACE NUTRITION PROGRAM
Every single day, malnutrition and sickness steal the lives of 7,000 babies in deep poverty. That is 7,000 mothers and families who grieve the excruciating loss of a child each day. And many of them don’t know there is a God whose heart breaks for their suffering. At Children’s Relief International, we are devoted to offering these precious babies a fighting chance not only to live but to thrive.
In Mozambique, Nigeria, South Asia, Haiti, and now Mexico, our Tessa Grace Nutrition Program offers love and care to babies and women who have no help or hope. Over the past few years, we have seen amazing success and that mark of success is life.
MEET FILAKE: TESSA GRACE NIGERIA
Welcome to Jege, Nigeria and Grace & Knowledge Academy (GKA). It was founded in 2011 by international partners, Jackson and Blessing Rowland-Adeniyi to provide Christian values and education to the poor. The staff teaches lessons during the day and leads the Tessa Grace Nutrition Program in the afternoon/evening.
In a community where many of the young mothers don’t know how to properly care for their children, infants die from accidental drug overdoses, the spread of HIV, and hunger. Now, GKA is helping to save their lives.
One afternoon Filake lead the program (pictured above). Mothers trickled in. Filake welcome them in as she bounced Jeremiah, on her back. Throughout the afternoon session, the women sang songs, studied the Bible, provided a medical lesson and check ups.
Women leaders, like Filake now serve at the various Tessa Grace locations around the world. Moms and babies need women like Filake.
